Home Hardware Page 2

This page starts off with a bunch of other types of collectibles and toys issued by Home Hardware - notably, most of them are vehicles of some sort, though not banks. Some I am sure are just toys issued for kids to play with, but most collectors will grab at least one or two of these if they see them on the shelves.

There is also a tin savings bank, and a coin with the Home Hardware logo on them which The Toyman added to his collection because (naturally) it's a bank and he also collected banks at that point in time and the coin ... well, who knows. He also has a similar coin from Canadian Tire.

Miniature delivery van from Home Hardware with flashing lights.
The little delivery van above bears the Home Hardware logo, but only says "Home" and "I'm Proud of my Home".  I'm pretty sure there was (maybe still is, although I haven't seen one for a long time) a Home Furniture store that belonged to the Home Hardware family - they have different types of stores and some only in certain locations (see their site here). The delivery van may have come from that, because Home Hardware doesn't use this type of delivery truck for building supplies. This little toy isn't a bank, but it does light up and sing the Home Hardware song. If you push down lightly on the top, you can feel the "springs" in it - and that's how you get the lights and song to play. We've had these since pretty early in the Series 1 collection (oh, we own 2, but he'll sell one of them and keep one) so the little devil is rather elderly, but still works. I don't know how prevalent these were when they came out, but they aren't easy to find.

The delivery truck above doesn't appear to belong to any particular collection either, but according to it's license plate, it was issued in 2004. It's been in a box since he bought it, but it's definitely a newer style than most of the issued toys/collectibles.

    1. How much they are worth depends on which Series and which issue number. There are a number of different vehicles in each Series, so the oldest series (#1) would be worth the most, if you have every truck that was issued in that series. If you have the original boxes, the series would be worth more. Current issues (I think they are at way over Series #5 now, but we haven't collected anything more). In Series #1 banks in the original boxes can sell for $75 ea. to $150 ea. The higher the series number, the lower the value. The newest ones sell for between $35 and $50.
